my good friend came over a few weeks ago with her adorable baby Jaxon. I couldn't resist his long eyelashes and big cheeks.

Tiger Tea

Oh where would I be without you tiger tea? if you haven't tried it, Bengal spice tea by Celestial Seasonings is the best tea I've ever had. It's always perfect, and always on my desk when I'm working.

Spring

Last summer I saw a beautiful hibiscus tree at a small flower shop up the hill. I knew I had to bring her home. I carried the tree all the way home, with lots of encouragement from passersbye, one even yelling from his car "Hey! nice hibiscus!".

Donna Lynn - as she's now known - revelaed her first flower this morning.

It reminded me of other new starts for spring, and someone who is enjoying the hibiscus in its natural hawaiian habitat.

trees and sky

It's been too long since I've posted, especially with some tunes, quotes, and things other than puppies.

I've been on lots of walk lately, and enjoyed the trees and sky.

adele has been on repeat recently, with this song. It's so refreshing to hear real talent.

Mochi!

This weekend I photographed a delicious little rice cake named mochi! this little yorkie japanese chin cross was so well behaved and really wanted to pose for the camera. I think she looks like a little Eewok!

Milton

The other week I had the chance to meet a friend and her adorable pup Milton for some photos and a game of softball. Milton was a pro; he sat, he posed, he even put on his uniform to support the team. I look forward to playing with him again soon!

Jackson

A good friend of mine just picked up a new edition to his family - the adorable Jackson. We went for a walk in the woods and he was a pleasure to play with for the day.

Jackson will the be the first of many in a new venture coming soon . . .

A Few Things

A few things for the holidays . . .

Andy Nuttall

This morning I got a call, that sadly puts me in the same company as thousands of other Canadians. A good friend Andrew Nuttall was killed in Afghanistan this morning.

The last time that I saw him was the first time that I saw him in uniform.
He walked into a summer wedding of a friend, in his uniform, standing tall and proud. I took him outside to take his portrait and he told me about his plans to go to Afghanistan at the end of October and his genuine excitement to get there and be of service.

Andy lived his life doing what he believed was right. Without fear of what could happen, and ultimately did. Here is the portrait that I took of him that night.

It's been along time. . .

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. But this morning, while eating my cereal and reading the new york times, I came across this article about an artist who wasn't "discovered" until she was 94. I thought "huh, now that's something worth sharing"

The Year of Risk and Faith

This past week was my birthday. After some serious "Janine time", I have declared that this 29th year will be The Year of Risk and Faith. As such, I will do scary non-sensical things just because they feel right.
